Near2Ride

Protection

What protection is available, and — just as importantly — what it does not cover.

Near2Ride does not provide insurance.
Hosts and drivers carry their own cover. The platform verifies that the cover exists, that it is in date, and that a driver is insured for the particular vehicle — and records all of it. Anything beyond that comes from a third-party partner and is shown as active only once that partner confirms it.

Basic

Included with every booking. Condition photos at both ends, deposit handling, and dispute support from Near2Ride.

Included

This is what the platform does itself. It is not insurance.

Standard

Partner-provided cover for damage up to a policy limit, with a reduced deposit hold.

Not yet available

Pending a partner agreement.

Enhanced

A higher limit, no deposit hold, roadside assistance, and a replacement vehicle where one can be found.

Not yet available

Pending a partner agreement.

What is checked before a booking can happen

  • The host's insurance certificate is on file, verified, and in date
  • A vehicle cannot be published without verified, in-date cover against it
  • A driver must be separately insured for the exact vehicle they are driving
  • A booking cannot be accepted while the customer's own cover is unverified

Peer-to-peer vehicle sharing is regulated differently in different states, and most personal motor policies exclude it. Near2Ride records cover; it does not provide it, and it is not a substitute for advice from a broker.
