Near2Ride

Terms of service

Not yet published. What follows describes how the platform works today.

These are not the terms of service.
Near2Ride is in development and has not yet published terms, a host agreement or a privacy policy drafted by a lawyer. Until it does, no booking on this site is a commercial transaction and no real payment is taken. If you have reached this page expecting a contract, there isn't one yet.

How the platform behaves

Written here so it can be checked against the finished terms when they are published.

Near2Ride is an intermediaryThe platform introduces customers to vehicle owners and drivers. The rental agreement is between those two parties. Near2Ride is not the owner of any vehicle and is not a party to the rental.
The host sets the priceNear2Ride adds a service fee of 5%, shown as its own line before you book. Nothing else is added.
Nothing is charged until a host acceptsA request is not a reservation. Several people may request the same vehicle; the host chooses between them.
Cover is verified, not providedNear2Ride checks that a host carries insurance, that it is in date, and that any driver is separately insured for that specific vehicle. It records all of it. It does not insure anybody.
A deposit may be heldThe amount is shown on the listing before booking, and released after the vehicle is inspected on return.
Either side can cancel before pickupYou can cancel while a request is pending and after it is accepted, up to the moment the vehicle is handed over. A host can cancel an accepted booking as well. There is no cancellation fee and no penalty on either side, because no money is taken until payment is turned on.
Nothing can be cancelled once the trip has startedFrom hand-over onwards the booking runs to completion, or to an incident report if something goes wrong. Report it from the booking itself rather than cancelling.
No refund rules exist yetPayment is not live, so there is nothing to refund. When card payments are switched on, a cancellation and refund policy has to be published before the first charge — it is not implied by this page.
